Cellphones for Work from Home in the Philippines: What to Get?

Many companies have now adopted a work from home setup. If you are one of those who can now do jobs remotely, you need to get a Smartphone that fulfill your tasks. Here are some of the best ones I picked.

Honor X9B

What I like about the Honor X9B is its decent 5800 mAh battery capacity. In scenarios where there is power interruption, this phone will be a life-saver for WFH people.

You can stay longer on your work with a battery like this. I have been using my S22 for typing on Google Docs and lasts me about 8 hours with merely 3700 mAh.

Also, the screen size is a good alternative to a computer monitor with its 6.78″ display.

Huawei Nova 12SE

The Huawei Nova 12SE will be a delight for any work from home employee with its 32 MP front camera. If you are frequently having meetings with your remote staff, then this is capable of clear videos.

Another plus for this unit is the screen size of 6.67″ which makes it ideal for work setup that requires screen immersion.

Sometimes, tablets are too bulky for me so this unit at less than 7″ would be ideal.

Samsung Galaxy S23

This is one of the practical choices in the Galaxy S series with its decent price. The unit has a 12 Megapixel camera perfect for video meetings.

The Galaxy S23 (basic) has a big screen at 6.1″ which you can convert as a computer for WFH setups. Battery is a little concern since it only has a 3,900 capacity but if you have a power bank, this will do.

Criteria for Picking a Smartphone for WFH

Front Camera

The phone should have a good front camera. Most companies that offer remote jobs need to conduct video calls so a decent selfie camera with high megapixels is essential.

Screen Size

I am comfortable with my desktop monitor when doing work. With a phone, you might need the biggest screen size possible so you won’t get eye strain.

AMOLED type is a good quality screen which allows you to have a comfortable viewing experience even on a small sized phone.

Connectivity

If you are planning to use your phone as a work computer, it should have available connectivity. I noticed that most Smartphones now can do the same things as a computer can, only on a smaller screen.

You can use Bluetooth and OTG adapters to connect your keyboard, mouse and even wireless speakers or earphones.

I’ve tried directly connecting my mechanical keyboard to my phone’s Bluetooth and it works. I did not notice any lags.

Battery Life

WFH jobs usually require a good desktop computer. But what if there is a sudden power interruption? You can still rely on your Smartphone to continue as long as you have the equivalent apps.

Here, you need a long lasting battery to talk to your boss or work teams until power comes back.

High RAM

To be a multi-tasker using your phone, it should have decent RAM. You can then open multiple apps like Zoom, Google Docs or other related software for work.

RAM is essential so your phone won’t slow down when you do multiple things at once. I usually have Google sheets, Viber and multiple Chrome browsers open all at once.
