I’ve come across the S22 well of course in 2022. As a flagship phone during that year, it was quite expensive. You are here because the price is now lower and you are planning to buy it.
Specs More Than You Need
If you want a basic phone, this one is too much for your needs. Call, text and internet won’t be a problem for you.
I’ve been using the basic 5G version because I am not a fan of large screen phones like its Ultra version. If you are like me who loves them inside the pocket, this one’s a good choice.
It’s fast, with 2.8 Ghz and an octa-core, all the apps are instantly loaded. Of course, it is coupled with an 8 GB RAM so there’s nothing for me to complain about.
Let’s Shoot
I just love the main cameras. I have been an amateur photographer since 2005 and I am impressed with the 50 MP main camera it has. It’s also good for night time photos due to the f/1.8 aperture.
When I do rain shots at night, all the droplets from the sky are visible. I’m adding long exposure times and the drops become more dramatic.
I am not a selfie person. But I will tell you that its front camera is nothing to be admired of. It still has that unrefined sharpness in low light. There is a timer to extend the shutter but you have to be steady to get a good shot.
Videos
I do not have any complaints with my video files using this phone. The UHD (4K) with 60 fps is really good but of course gobbles up memory. A 10-second video is already 100 Mb.
You can get away with the FHD (1080p) at 30 fps which I usually use. It has that movie fps effect.
Battery
I am disappointed but it is a given. With just 3700 mAh, I need to charge twice a day after messaging, an hour of YouTube and 6 hours of total browsing time.
Do you think that’s reasonable?
The good thing is that I got a freebie 65 W charger from the Samsung store. Yes, free. So charging time is very fast, almost full in about 30 minutes.
Issues
I have never experienced issues with this phone. My real concern is battery life but I am able to live with it. Other than that, it is a good Smartphone with fast response, good size and a very good camera system.
I dropped it in the first week and the corner side was damaged, like having a dent with chipped off paint. It was my fault. But at least I didn’t cry.
Price of Galaxy S22 Now
Recently, I noticed that there is a wide price range for this unit. I’ve seen online stores now offering it for Php 23,000 as a second-hand used phone.
The most expensive that I’ve seen was Php 38,000 at a store in North EDSA, Quezon City. I bought mine with the original price of Php 46,990.
Is it OK to buy a used Galaxy S22? Maybe, but be sure to check out all the physical attributes first. Make sure there are no damages and that it was never repaired or opened. These are good signs that it is still worth buying.
Is it Worth Buying?
With my overall satisfaction, I would still recommend this phone even as a second hand used unit.
