Cellphone for Senior Citizens For Enjoyment

Last Updated on September 6, 2024 by Rian

We love our senior citizen parents and grandparents. Why not make it easier for them to choose a good phone? I have listed here some of the models that they will surely love.

Oppo A78

Price: Starts at Php 6,700

I am impressed with its 67W charger which will surely make seniors happy. We all want fast charging to get things done on time. The matte finish is quite good on this unit and makes it look high-end.

The battery is decent at 5000 mAh so you don’t need to charge multiple times in a day. Of course, if you enjoy watching teleseryes for 12 hours it’s a different story.

It’s light at 180g, probably the lightest on this list. It will not aggravate your grandfather’s arthritis.

Vivo Y28

Price: Php 7,999

It has the largest screen on the list at 6.56 inches. So if your senior is happy to watch videos on a phone, this is one of the perfect options.

Battery is one of the strongest features of this phone at 6000 mAh. Your senior mother will have a great time using this phone longer. It comes also with a 4-year battery health so expect this to last the same length of time.

Available colors are not too dark which complements an elder’s lifestyle.

Samsung A15

Price: Php 12,990

This phone from Samsung is bigger at 6.5 inches and a lot pricier than the other two on this list. But what captured me is the Eye care feature. If a senior will use this, blue light should be minimal to keep the sleep cycle normal.

An Octa-core processor (brain) also makes it a fast phone so there is virtually no waiting time when you open apps. A 5000 mAh battery makes it a good combo.

Things to Consider

Here are the things to consider when buying a phone for seniors.

Price

This is where all of us are trembling. But the way I see it, seniors do not like high end phones. They are content with those that are in the lower price ranges. In fact, they are usually skeptical to buy a phone that is more than Php 10,000.

Obviously, I had to exclude some brands since all of their phone models tend to be more than Php 30,000.

I understand this sentiment especially for those who will buy out of pocket. If you are buying for your parents or grandparents and price is not an issue, then at least get a mid-ranged price.

A Fast Chip

Do not deny your seniors a fast mobile phone. They will appreciate something that can get things done quickly.

I remember the old unit of my mom where opening Messenger takes about 2 seconds due to slow memory and processor. It was annoying.

Weight and Size

I noticed that both of my parents (seniors) don’t like bulky and heavy phones. They want it simple or just the average size. Let’s always choose something that is comfortable for them to use and carry. A 200g phone with a minimum of 5.5-inch screen size will do.

Other features

A good LED bulb. Yes, it may sound funny but a phone with a bright flashlight will benefit seniors. They can use it to get up from bed to the comfort room or find something in the corners of the closet or kitchen cabinet. Trust me, they need a flashlight.

Power

Get something that has a long lasting battery in a single charge. I don’t want my parents to charge multiple times a day. In my estimate, a good battery in the range of 5000 mAh and up will do.

I enjoy fast charging features and your grandparents will too. Get a unit that has at least a 35W power adapter.
