Washing Machine Repair Service

Last Updated on September 19, 2024 by Rian

No one wants to have a piled up laundry that stinks. If your machine is damaged or broken, you can call a home service.

How Much is Washing Machine Repair?

As an average, the labor cost starts from Php 700 for an initial check up to Php 2,500 for actual repair and labor services. Note that the cost will be based on the difficulty of the concern as well as the purchase of spare parts.

One spare part that we had to replace is the sensor for draining water. The technician charged us Php 3,800. But when I checked online, there is a 3rd party supplier that costs only Php 900.

I just had to take his offer because we urgently needed the part. It was readily available from their shop and the online store on the other hand will take 3 days to deliver.

The cost of repair will be based on the damage type and the spare parts needed. Usually, fully automatic washers have more expensive parts than the traditional twin tubs. This is also true for those front load washers with built in dryers.

What Are The Common Problems

One of the most common problems of fully automatic washing machines comes with water draining. In most models, the error OE or IE will be indicated in the monitor.

This could mean that the drain filter pump is blocked by an object. Cloth fibers, coins and papers are among the most common materials blocking the drain mechanism.

On the other hand, the drain pipe may also be damaged and twisted causing an error on the monitor panel.

Another is the no-power problem. It may be due to the power supply of the machine or damaged wiring. This is common among twin tub washers where the unit (washer and spinner) shares electric power for both mechanism. Have it check by a qualified technician to avoid accidents.

Here are some more problems that you may encounter:

  • The water does not fill up to the limit
  • Noisy operation during washing and drying
  • The spinner does not work
  • The LCD monitor is unreadable

What if the cost of repair is too high and that no parts are available?

In such cases, it would then be wise to simply look for a new washing machine for convenience. Having loads of laundry sitting there for a few days can be unhygienic. Not to mention money wasting if you will opt to have laundry services.

Should I have the unit repaired through a service center?

The ideal way to fix your machine is to call the service center and request for a quote. However, those out of warranty units may involve higher charges.

On the other hand, repair shops are more convenient to call and set appointments with. But the downside is that you may not have available parts if they need replacement.

If your unit is still covered by warranty, you may have it repaired for free at a service center near you but limited only to labor costs. However, those out of coverage may involve service rates from Php 1,000 to Php 3,000 depending on part replacement.

Newer and more modern washers may need special installation for water source. In this case, the installation price may start from Php 500 to Php 700. Fully automatic washing machines need plumbing installation and drainage in order to work at optimum levels. You may request from the local service provider or from the appliance center for installation.

In the event that home modification is necessary, additional costs may apply. Building materials, panels, washing machine case and platform may involve extra expenditure.
